::BI Rate Rise to 6.75% Rupiah Will Stronger Following Capital Inflow>>

Go Finance Report Jakarta - The increase in the BI Rate by 25 basis points (bps) to 6.75 per cent predicted to be followed by the strengthening of the rupiah because it ensured foreign investors will return to Indonesia.

"Rupiah immediately strengthened after the rate hike because of rising interest rates is expected by foreign investors as a sign that the central bank shows no intention to control the expectations of future inflation," said Vice President of Research and Analyst Valbury Asia Futures Nico Omer Jonckheere via short message to Legal in Jakarta.

Previously, the rupiah seems to thrive in the middle of the weakening United States dollar (U.S.). Rupiah was shot through the levels Rp9.000 per USD along with increasing Bi rate to 6.75 percent.

Amount, according to the exchange rate of Bank Indonesia (BI) on Friday (02/04/2010) weakened to Rp9.030 per USD compared to the previous trading period in Rp9.017 per USD.

Meanwhile, according yahoofinace, instead rupiah strengthened to Rp8.972, 5 per USD with a daily trading range of 0.5-Rp9 Rp8.972 .032,5 per USD. Value of U.S. dollar also appears to weaken over other currencies. The euro rose to 1.3637 per USD, the yen rose to USD81, 565 per USD and the pound rose to 1.6164 per U.S. dollar. (GoFinance)
