::Affected the Exports, Rupiah Should be Pegged Rp8.700-Rp8.900>>

Go Finance Reporting in JAKARTA - Continue strengthening of the rupiah against the U.S. dollar (U.S.) appears to begin to impact on Indonesia's exports.

Minister of Industry, MS Hidayat said, as a former businessman if he advocated the strengthening of the rupiah should have its limits. The strengthening rupiah was most ideal in the range of Rp8.700-Rp8.900 per USD.

"I encourage the strengthening of the rupiah was his limit. Must we peg Rp8.700-Rp8.900 per USD," said Hidayat, at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (05/04/2011).

However, Hidayat said the current strengthening of the rupiah is very helpful for government funding. Because the import of capital goods which do become cheaper, including imports of fuel oil (BBM). "(The strengthening of rupiah) is beneficial government, imports of light, and so on," he said.

However, he says, if it continues strengthening, then it can extinguish the spirit of Indonesian exporters due to the small margin they receive. "But do not forget, export margins will be reduced, that it will reduce the spirit of exporters," he concluded. (GoFinance)
